It’s Time to End the Tyranny of Ultra-Processed Food
We chose this article partly because we were interested in the actual conclusions to the health risks of ultra-processed foods. This was a good opportunity to develop some iconic character and food designs while abiding to the new world aesthetic of the wired magazine branding.

Client Notes
Client went with concept 2, however some tweaks needed to be done to the design to contrast between processed and unprocessed foods.
Chosen Direction

Developing The style frames further, We refined the design direction further, recorded a scratch VO for timing purposes, and developed a shot list and workflow spreadsheet for more optimization.

Animatic is approved! However the design of processed vs unprocessed foods needs to be more jarring.

Good start with the animation, make sure that your more quiet scenes have still some elements of animation. Moving holds go a long way

Final Deliverable

Overall I really enjoyed my experience creating this explainer. Hei Kuok and I had so much fun in general and I think that energy shows in our design and animation! Definitely a project and style that I loved to experiment with.
